Vineyard Notes
The terroir is clay and limestone soil on a south-facing plateau at 200 meters above sea level in a tiny micro-climate valley.
All the estate's wines have been certified organic since the 2020 vintage. They are committed to leaving a sustainable and ecologically friendly estate for their next generation. Both in the cellar and in the vineyard, they work with the least possible intervention. Not using chemistry allows wildlife to thrive and they strive to work alongside nature and the wild boar that plow the land.
Production Notes
Each grape variety is vinified separately using direct pressing and fermentation at low temperature.
Winemaker Notes
The remarkable wines of this family domaine are the result of five generations of winemaking wisdom. Founded in 1918 with five hectares of vines, the estate flourished as each successive generation ushered in growth and improvements. Today, Domaine Cailhol Gautran is a thriving domaine of 55 hectares.
