Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
Located in the village of Caux to the north of the medieval town of Pézenas, the Allegria vineyards lie on the slopes of an ancient volcano on the hills of the Haut Languedoc. Nine Mediterranean grape varieties make up the mosaic of the domaine's tiny vineyards: Syrah (this is the majority), Grenache Noir, Mourvedre, Carignan Noir, Cinsault-for the reds, and for the whites: Roussanne, Marsanne, Grenache Blanc, Carignan Blanc. The vineyard is at a good age: 17 years for the youngest vines, 40 years for the most venerable plots.
Production Notes
The two grape varieties used in this cuvée were not vinified in the same way. The Roussanne was vinified in 500-liter demi-muids, then stirred, and aged in the same barrels for 9 months. The Marsanne was vinified in tanks. These two distinct vinification techniques make it possible to combine the complexity and power of aging in demi-muids with the aromatic freshness of Marsanne vinified in tanks.
Winemaker Notes
Created in 2008, The Allegria domaine is located in Haut Languedoc, near the beautiful little town Pézenas. The domaine is entirely respectful of the environment, from their organic farming of the grapes to the wooden architecture of their winery. Allegria is a result of a French Argentinian friendship between the Aboville family and the Mota family. The Aboville family, with their 5 children, contributed with passion and enthusiasm while the renowned Robert de la Mota, recognized by all Malbec fans for creating Cheval des Andes and Bodega Mendel, contributed with his advanced knowledge as one of Argentina's greatest oenologists.
