Sommelier Notes: Ever had a wine blessed by Minerva, the Roman goddess of wisdom? Well, here she is! Rouanet Montcélèbre is a family owned vineyard of 22 hectares (55 acres) located at the base of the Massif Central, in the Minervois appellation. Audrey Rouanet is the sixth generation in her family to farm the vineyards and make the family wines. Audrey took over when her father was killed in a tragic work accident. She is an exceptional oenologist and winemaker who studied in France, Tuscany and California. The vineyards sit on a windswept plateau at 1,000 feet of elevation above the Cesse Gorge with breathtaking views of the Black Mountains to the north and the entire Pyrenees range to the southwest. The eroded and pebbly white limestone vineyard soil allows the vines to root deeply, giving unique aromatic and mineral expression to the wines. Cinsault, the grape in this delicious rosé, is the celebrated Provence rosé grape. In this magnificent Languedoc terroir and in Audrey’s capable hands this rosé is at another level. The organic grapes are hand harvested, gently pressed, and fermented on the lees in steel tanks. The wine has a whiff of strawberries and pomegranates grounded with minerality from the fabulous limestone soil. This wine is also bee friendly. Se Canta! We will all sing Old Occitanie tunes.
