This single-vineyard Syrah is an organic powerhouse that delights with its velvety mouthfeel and notes of raspberry, licorice, mint and wild brambles. Winemaker Katie Jones is one of the women leading the Languedoc wine making renaissance. She creates her distinctive wines from old vineyards and rare grape varieties. This wine is ‘rare’ because Katie makes only 2-3 barrels per year.

Serve this bold red with wholesome stew, meatballs, chili con carne, and slow cooked lamb.

Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
The grapes for this special wine are grown in one small vineyard in the village of Tuchan, where the Languedoc meets the Roussillon. The vines were originally sourced from Cote Rotie. An electric fence surrounds the vineyards to dissuade pesky wild boars from feasting on the sweet, ripe grapes.
Production Notes
Domaine Jones produces many wines from tiny old vineyards leading to truly small batch wines. After hand harvesting, the organic grapes are destemmed by hand then fermented in open-topped, 400 liter barrels with hand pigeage. The grape cap is “punched down” as the wine ferments. After 10-14 days, the wine is pressed and then aged for 12 months in the finest new French oak barrels.
Winemaker Notes
Winemaker Katie Jones is one of the women leading Languedoc wine making renaissance. Every wine she creates has a distinctive personality, shaped by the old vines, wild herbs of the garrigue and her own care and passion. She prefers old, small-scale vineyards with low yields and rare grape varieties. She joyfully embraces the challenge of farming these vineyards, including working with narrow, "horse-width" rows planted in a time before the modern tractor existed.
Food Pairing Notes
Serve this bold red with wholesome stew, meatballs, chili con carne, and slow cooked lamb.
