The winemaker reserves the best Syrah grapes for this bold, ruby-colored Gran Cru. Heady aromas of cigar, deep red fruit and garrigue are followed by mouth-filling flavor and fine tannins. The long finish satisfies with notes of bergamot and eucalyptus.

This hearty red seeks out game, red meats and roasts. Don’t be shy with herbs and spices! It’s also a dashing companion to baked short ribs with red currant wine glaze and sage polenta.

Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
The pebbly soil is typical of the Saint Georges d'Orque terroir which is geologically similar to Châteauneuf-du-Pape and hydrologically similar to Graves de Bordeaux. During the region’s heavy spring rains, water collects beneath the limestone and sandy loam soils and nourishes the young vines. Chateau de l'Engarran is certified Terra Vitis. This means the winery practices responsible, sustainable farming while respecting both the earth and the people who live and work nearby.
Production Notes
For 12 months, half of the cuvée is aged in French oak barrels. The full blend is then aged for 10 months in stainless steel tanks.
Winemaker Notes
Diane Losfelt has been the winemaker at Chateau de l'Engarran for more than 30 years. Her guiding principles for creating her wines are authentic terroirs, elegance and, above all, personality. Her wines embody strong character and high style — like the winemaker herself! The winery operates in a 17th century chateau with a romantic, formal French garden surrounded by 60 hectares of vineyards.
Food Pairing Notes
