Sommelier note: This classic Chateau was born in 1632 in the wine area around Montpellier called “Grès de Montpellier’. They offer generous wines with great finesse. Another female winemaker here!! Diane Losfelt is the technical director and for more than 30 years has been in charge of the vinification. You can often find Diane in the vineyard because ‘Good wine is made in the vineyard, not in the cellar’ she says. This wine is an homage to the former owner of Chateau l’Engarran in the 18th century Mr. Laurent Quetton. The best Syrah grapes of the domaine end up in this cuvée which we call a Grand Cru from the Languedoc. Truly a BIG WINE! Intense color, very complex nose with cigar case, dark red fruit, garrigue followed by a big mouth filling taste with fine, grippy tannins and a long aftertaste with notes of bergamot and eucalyptus. Another knife-and-fork wine pur sang (purebred)! Game, red meats, roasts, don’t be shy with herbs and spices here! Open this bottle at least one hour in advance to reveal all the aromas packed in this great wine!
