Vineyard Notes
The vineyard sits on a south-facing plateau 200 meters above sea level. The terroir is clay and limestone soil.
Production Notes
This rosé is made using pressurage. Freshly harvested grapes are loaded into a tank or a press for several hours and then gently pressed to drain the juice. The juice is chilled in a tank, yeast is added, and slow alcoholic fermentation begins. The wine ages on fine lees from harvest to spring and is then bottled.
Winemaker Notes
The remarkable wines of this family domaine are the result of four generations of winemaking wisdom. Founded in 1918 with five hectares of vines, the estate flourished as each successive generation ushered in growth and improvements. Today, Domaine Cailhol Gautran is a thriving domaine of 50 hectares.
