This is an exceptional orange-pink colored rosé, ripe fruit on the nose and round on the palate. A rosé with character, what the French elegantly call a rosé of gastronomy. Cabernet Franc gives beautiful berry fruit and acidity making this wonderful with food.

Serve with a tartare or seared tuna dish dotted with Szechuan peppercorns, or a salade Niçoise.

Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
Malpere is the most western of the Languedoc appellations in the foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains..  Its location up against the barrier of the Pyrenees provides altitude and fresh temperatures to complement the warm Mediterranean climate of the Languedoc. The domaine grows beautiful fruit from the cooler climate grape varieties Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Malbec and Cabernet Franc .  The vineyards are situated on clay-limestone soil and the favorable high altitude location tempers the summer heat creating fine wines with great freshness and elegance.
Production Notes
The harvest is done by hand in small bins in order to guarantee the pristine quality of the fruit as the clusters arrive in the nearby cave for vinification. The modest yield on these plots is about 7000 to 8000 kg/ha (55-60hl/ha). Grapes are harvested at night to preserve the freshness of the fruit.
Winemaker Notes
In 2000, Philippe Girard, the fourth generation winemaker, gave birth to the very first vintages of the “Domaine Girard” label.  He fell in love with the vine from an early age when he followed his father in the vineyards of Alaigne where his great-grandfather began making wine. Heir to an exceptional terroir, renowned for the strong typicity of its wines, Philippe perfects his know-how so he can reveal the best of the AOP Malepère.  In order to work optimally on the thirty hectares he cultivates today, a new cellar was born in 2017.
