L’Orental is, in itself, a tribute to the Grenache grape. Aged for 11 months in barrels, this intense and rich wine, with its deep purple color, develops beautifully complex aromas ranging from olive and licorice to black fruit and pepper. A little gem that will certainly amaze wine lovers.

This wine stands out with flavorful meals like duck breast with figs, lamb tagine with prunes, or beef stew with black tapenade.

Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
This highly regarded domaine has 34 hectares of vines/parcels in Banyuls on breathtaking slopes overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and the border with Spain. The terrain dictates parcels with a variety of exposures, soils (though schist dominates), altitudes and grape varieties. The vines themselves average 50 years of age and are densely planted to increase competition between the roots. Some parcels have a mixture of grape varieties grown together.
Production Notes
Domaine de la Rectorie ranges in altitude from zero for the vines on the sea side to 400 metres for the vines cultivated on the mountain side. Cultivation on the steep, narrow terraces above cliff is done exclusively with mountain-suitable, small horses. The cultivation methods have always been very traditional, helped by the nature of the very demanding slopes and, in any case, by the Parcé brothers' desire and passion to do everything possible to capture the authenticity of the terroir. This rigour in the management of the vines added to very low yields of only 20 to 25 hectolitres per hectare, and irreproachable vinification, allowing them to produce vintage after vintage of great Roussillon wines, regularly acclaimed by the critical press.
Winemaker Notes
Domaine de la Rectorie is owned by the Parcé family several generations after their grandfather and grandmother created the domaine.  Previously, grapes were taken to the local cooperative - which today handles 70% of the region's grapes - but in 1984 it was decided that production would be taken back into family hands, to resume the practice of their great-grandparents from whom they inherited the estate. In 1984 Domaine de la Rectorie was developed thanks to collective work that followed a dream, the ambition not being to put their name on the label, but to advance a common, collective work. Pedro Soler, Thierry Parcé, Marc Parcé, Jules Campadieu, Jean-François Camou, and many others, all brought their hand to the building of the current domaine and their wines.
