/ 750ml

The nose is expressive, spicy, and fresh, with candied fruit, spices, and blackcurrant. In the taste, we discover notes of red fruits, wildflowers, and a long and intense finale. An elegant and subtle, refreshing and expressive rosé. To give the wine a bit of punch, the blend passes for a short time on French oak barrels. Result is a tasty, gastronomic rosé perfect for the dinner table. This wine is very highly spoken of by Jancis Robinson, who gave it 94 points out of 100.

This gourmet rosé is an all-year food wine. Wonderful with Prawn salad with a spicy cocktail sauce; Stuffed Tomatoes with Rice, Pine Nuts, Currants, and Mint; Baked Chicken with Grilled Vegetables in Thyme-Garlic Olive Oil; and Chicken Salad Sandwiches with Prunes and Almonds. Also perfect with Holiday Turkey with cranberry sauce, sage cornbread stuffing and giblet gravy.

Vineyard Notes
14 ha of vineyards. Terre des Dames still has the same structure as it did 200 years ago: small plots on different levels, surrounded by ancient stone walls and wild garrigue. Here, of course, no pesticides or synthetic fertilizers are applied. For most of the year, a cover of natural herbs favors an ecological balance in the soil. The oldest vine is 100 years old; others are around 50 – 70 years old. Several rows of the prized grape Alicante Henri Bouchet. All grapes are harvested and sorted by hand. The particular microclimate of this area, along with the underground springs and rivers, gives freshness to the vine roots, maintained by the large barriers of trees and shrubs between the plots. Biodiversity also protects against pests and disease.
Production Notes
Mourvèdre, Grenache, and Syrah (55/30/15%) yields between 20-30 hl/ha for greater concentration. All grapes are harvested and sorted by hand. Direct pressing. Stirring on lees. Subtle aging in 600 L barrels (4 months) for just a little additional complexity without any excess wood.
Winemaker Notes
Lidewij Van Wilgen left a high-powered career in advertising to pursue her dream of creating luscious, beautiful, organic wines. After visits to Bordeaux and the Northern Rhône, she became intrigued by what people were calling the “new world” of wine in France – the Languedoc. She found a beautiful farmhouse in a small valley with perfect terroir, and Terre Des Dames was born. Since then, Lidewij has become one of the women leading the Languedoc wine-making renaissance. Her wines have received awards from Decanter and Wine Spectator and glowing reviews from British wine maven Jancis Robinson.
