Raise a glass of dazzling garnets with this Merlot-dominant blend. Entrancing aromas of cherry, dark fruit, and sweet spices are touched with roasted oak.  The fruit blooms in a very ripe mouth and nuances of macerated fruit integrate the medium tannins. This cuvée will evolve with grace and class.

Pair this passionate red with savory meat dishes such as beef cheek stew.

Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
These sloped vineyards border the vast grain fields of the Languedoc that extend to the Pyrenees mountains. The plots are 20 years old, planted in soils of clay and silt exposed on a south-east facing slope at an altitude of 350 meters.
Production Notes
Harvesting is done manually at the peak of ripeness. Grapes are crated and transported in small quantities to limit crushing. Whole destemming is followed by maceration for five to six days at low temperatures (46-50°F). Daily pumping over is done during the fermentation (indigenous yeasts). Then follows a soft pressing with a selection of the best juices. The grape varieties are vinified separately in vats for 3 months and then transferred to 500 L barrels where they are aged separately for 8 months before being blended.
Winemaker Notes
In 2000, Philippe Girard, the fourth generation winemaker, gave birth to the very first vintages of the “Domaine Girard” label.  He fell in love with the vine from an early age when he followed his father in the vineyards of Alaigne where his great-grandfather began making wine. Heir to an exceptional terroir, renowned for the strong typicity of its wines, Philippe perfects his know-how so he can reveal the best of the AOP Malepère.  In order to work optimally on the thirty hectares he cultivates today, a new cellar was born in 2017.
Food Pairing Notes
