A blend of Grenache Noir, Carignan, and Syrah, this crowd favorite was awarded 91/100 by Wine Spectator, is a Feminalise Gold Medalist and a favorite of British wine scholar Jancis Robinson.  This juicy organic red expresses rich fruit depth, brilliant acidity and remarkable freshness.

Delight your palate by pairing La Dame with spiced, prune-stuffed pork loin or holiday turkey with sage-cornbread stuffing and cranberry sauce.

Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
Terre Des Dames has been certified organic (Ecocert) for over ten years. The structure of the vineyard is unchanged from 200 years ago. The 25 small plots (totalling 14 hectares) are on different levels, surrounded by low walls and diverse garrigue. No pesticides or artificial fertilizers are used. Most of the year, natural grass grows between the rows and supports the life of the soil. The soil is clay, limestone and flint and rich with marine fossils. The microclimate of the area, along with the underground springs and rivers, imparts freshness to the vine roots. As well, the roots are nourished and protected by large barriers of trees and shrubs between the plots. Maintaining this biodiversity protects against disease and gives unique personality to the wines.
Production Notes
Grapes are harvested and sorted by hand. Classic and natural vinification takes place in concrete vats. 24,000 bottles of 2017 La Dame were produced.
Winemaker Notes
Lidewij Van Wilgen left a high-powered career in advertising to pursue her dream of creating luscious, beautiful, organic wines. After visits to Bordeaux and the Northern Rhône, she became intrigued by what people were calling the “new world” of wine in France – the Languedoc. She found a beautiful farm house in a small valley with perfect terroir and Terre Des Dames was born. Since then, Lidewij has become one of the women leading the Languedoc wine making renaissance. Her wines have received awards from Decanter and Wine Spectator, and glowing reviews from British wine maven Jancis Robinson.
