Sommelier Notes: Liz and Robin Williamson met over coffee at work in London despite their very different backgrounds: she from New Zealand and he from Guernsey one of the English Channel Islands. They both shared a passion for wine which overtook them in 2003 when they found their piece of paradise west of Montpellier and moved to the Languedoc. They see themselves as guardians of their land for future generations and completed conversion of all production on their estate to organic in 2009.
The organic grapes for this wine are all hand harvested. The wine is aged on the lees and a portion is aged in old oak barrels. This approachable and friendly white wine is pale lemon-straw colored. The nose has pronounced citrus, honeysuckle and mineral aromas. The fresh acidity balances the citrus, fennel, and pineapple flavors and the grounding minerality gives length to the wine. A wonderful mouthfeel! This is a perfect food wine. This mouthwatering white is fabulous with appetizers like green olive tapenade on crostini; a simple lunch of cold shellfish platter with aioli; or at supper with grilled fish and lemon-caper sauce or lemon-rosemary roasted chicken. Try it also after dinner with a blue cheese or an aged goat cheese. You will need 3 bottles to taste through these suggestions!
