This Syrah-dominant, organic red shines like a ruby with pink cherry highlights. The taste is complex but not heavy and laced with aromas of blackberry and wild herbs of the garrigue. Black pepper and licorice are present as well. A silky mouthfeel and elegant, soft tannins balance the pleasant intensity.

Pair this versatile wine with grilled red meats, lamb chop, venison and Mediterranean cuisine. Dress it down with burgers or served chilled with southern fried chicken. A show-stopper when paired with chocolate desserts.

Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
Rouanet  Montcélèbre is a family owned vineyard of 22 hectares located at the base of the Massif Central, an expansive highland of mountains and plateaus in Southern France. The vineyards are in the Minervois appellation, named by the Romans in honor of Minerva, the goddess of wisdom, when they brought grape vines to the region 3,000 years ago. The rocky broken clay-limestone soil allows the vines to send roots deep into the earth, lending a wonderful aromatic and mineral expression to the wines.
Production Notes
Fermentation and aging take place in cement tanks.
Winemaker Notes
In 1987, Bernard and Annie Rouanet embarked on the adventure of buying their first vineyard and creating their own domaine in Montcélèbre. Fast forward to the 2012 vintage — their daughter, Audrey, returned with a diploma in viticulture and oenology, making her the sixth generation in her family to farm the vineyards and make the family wines.  When her father was killed in a tragic work accident, Audrey took over despite her young age. Today, she is an exceptional winemaker who has studied in both Tuscany and California. She avoids farming with any chemicals, even organic ones, that are harmful to the endangered local bees. So her wines are not just organic, they’re also bee friendly!
Food Pairing Notes
