Sommelier Notes: Malepere is one of the coolest winegrowing areas in the Languedoc-Roussillon because it is in the foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains.   Therefore, the wines have great freshness and acidity but are kissed by the generous South of France sun.  Domaine La Louvière sits atop a high hill which was an old wolf gathering site.  The views from there are stunning.  This location gets both warm Mediterranean breezes and the cooling infleunces of the Atlantic across the Pyrenees.  The winemaker is the handsome and super friendly Jem Harris from Australia, part of the wonderful Renaissance of winemaking in the Languedoc-Roussillon.  He brings New World sensibilities but with respect for the best of the Old World traditions.  The results in his top quality wines will...well…make you howl.  
This Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec cuvée captivates the senses and seduces the palate with her aromas of stewed plums, red berries and soft velvety tannins.  The grapes are harvested late from selected vineyards then aged in barrels, deepening the fruit aromas with the slight caramel quality of the maturing oak.  Excellent with a grilled steak, mature cheeses, a roasted root vegetable tagine or just a good book.  Jem has received many awards for this wine including: Top 100: Sud de France 2018; Gold medal: Mundus Vini 2018;3 stars: Hachette Guide “Coup de Cœur” 2019; Gold medal: Concours Agricole de Paris 2016; and Silver medal: Millésime BIO, Montpellier 2019.  We have no doubt you too will be seduced by this wine if not also by the winemaker!!
