This organic red is a blend of three traditional Minervois grape varieties: Syrah, Grenache Noir and Carignan. The palate is expressive of a true Mediterranean wine, rich and complex, reflecting the unique characteristics of the terroir. Blackberry jam fruit is brightened by sweet and peppery spices followed by luscious notes of vanilla, cinnamon, and white pepper and even a touch of licorice, roses, and violets grounded by an herbal layer. The candied fruit and blackberry jam flavors will evolve into sweet tobacco and soft leather notes as the wine ages. 

Villa Lucia Rouge brings sophistication and grace to special occasions as well as everyday meals. Enjoy with red meats, sausages, and venison with red currants. Also pairs well with goat cheese and foie gras.

Vineyard Notes
The vineyards are planted on a sunny, south-facing limestone plateau at an altitude of 250 meters. 55 hectares (137 acres) of vines are in production.
Production Notes
Cailhol Gautran’s wines have been certified organic since the 2020 vintage. The domaine is committed to leaving a sustainable and ecologically-friendly estate for the next generation. The domaine uses few interventions, both in the cellar and in the vineyard. Without the presence of artificial pesticides and other chemicals, wildlife can thrive alongside the vines, including wild boar. The grapes are harvested and vinified separately, allowing full expression of the unique terroir. Red wines are vinified without the use of sulfites. Sulfites are used minimally in white and rosé wines, just before bottling.
Winemaker Notes
The remarkable wines of this family domaine are the result of five generations of winemaking wisdom. Founded in 1918 with five hectares of vines, the estate flourished as each successive generation ushered in growth and improvements. Today, Domaine Cailhol Gautran is a thriving domaine of 55 hectares.
