Sommelier Notes: This old domaine in the prized appellation La Livinière, has been totally renovated by Franck Leonor and his family over the last 60 years. The domaine is in organic conversion now meaning these grapes have not been treated with chemicals but the domaine is not yet certified organic by the EU. Franck, a wonderful human being, spent time long ago as an English teacher in Bordeaux and loves to make Bordeaux style wines, but with the great advantage of the Languedoc sun in the South of France. This wine is made from Carignan, Princess’ favorite single varietal red wine. Reminds her of Texas! This rich wine is a deep ruby color with aromas of blackberry, black cherry, and ripe plums. Then you will find cedar and licorice and earthy depth! The wine has a lot of structure, with medium tannins and medium acidity. Very long finish thankfully because it will be gone before you know it. It feels rich and flavorful and smooth and balanced all in such a nice way. Such a great wine! Decant at least an hour before serving and serve slightly chilled.
