The term “maîtres vignerons” is fully realized in this beautifully crafted cuvée. Inviting scents of garrigue and toasted bread unfurl into aromas of robust red fruit and sweet spices. The palate is full-bodied and lush, enhanced by the remarkable aromatics. A toasted oak finish delivers elegant intensity. A masterful wine!

For a sensory “revelation”, serve this expansive red with braised duck breast with cherry balsamic sauce.

Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
Les Maîtres Vignerons de Cascastel Revelation is created from tiny vineyards surrounding the cave cooperative and some are hundred-year-old plots. All lie in the Valley of Paradise and are characterized by excellent terroir. The rocky, calco-schist soils absorb heat during the day then radiate warmth at night, creating optimal conditions for the maturation of the grapes. Carignan and Grenache Noir are planted on the schist slopes of Cascastel des Corbières. Emphasis is on old vines with small yields. Most viticulture is accomplished manually, including the harvest.
Production Notes
Carignan and Syrah are vinified in carbonic maceration. Vatting is approximately 12 days. Grenache is vinified with traditional fermentation for 30 days. At the end of the malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in fine-grained French oak barrels for 12 months. Each grape variety is aged separately in new barrels. This is the only cave cooperative from which we buy wines because of the excellent quality of their wines. Each year, the cave produces 27,000 hl (2.5 million bottles) and 100,000 BIBs from the grapes of approximately 60 artisanal winegrowers whose combined vineyards total 800 hectares. This is one of their highest quality, finest cuvées.
Winemaker Notes
The cooperative cellar of Les Maitres Vignerons de Cascastel was founded in 1921. Before this collective initiative, the village of Cascastel was made up exclusively of independent winegrowers. Merging created a powerful synergy of expert winegrowers, wisdom, technology, and shared resources. The foundation of the cooperative is solidarity, fairness, and democracy. As a result, these very small, artisan winegrowers bring out the best in the vines, the wines, and each other. They all benefit from the fine winemaking skills of José Navarro who moved from the Rhône Valley to become their winemaker.
Food Pairing Notes
