Sommelier note: This fine family domaine has been making wine here in the Saint-Chinian appellation for many generations now. A very good example how succession in the family can work.
Saint-Chinian has a very typical ‘Terroir’ and is dominated by two main soil types: schiste (slate) on one part and clay/limestone on the other. Domaine des Jougla has their vineyards on both types so this gives diversity. All the vines are situated within the ‘garrigue’ the mix of vegetation of pine trees, oak, herbs like rosemary, fennel and thyme. A big part of the aromas come from this complex vegetation! Laurence Jougla is responsible for the vinification. Another Leading Lady of the Languedoc. And all BIO of course.
Occitan language is still actively found in these wine regions and the name of this wine in Oc language translates to: Love of the Vines. Classic blend of local white varietals. This super drinkable wine expresses white fruits like pear and blossom in the nose, is rich and generous in the mouth and with a great, long finish. Wine for your lunch table: gravlax and scallops do very, very well here.
